When we are talking about malaysia durian, many people will say Mushang King or D24, however, there’re many different types of durian in Malaysia, and it will have new type of durian every year, so I don’t want to talk each individually here.
What’s the different between Malaysia durian and Thailand one? Practically, Malaysia one is fall down on the floor naturally when it’s matured, then farmers pick it up on the floor, so Malaysia durian is taste more fragrance, richer and sweetie with wine notes. On the other hand, Thailand one is picked by hand on the tree when it’s still young and seated in somewhere to let it mature, then only sell in the market, so the taste is light with less fragrance.
There are few ways you ca find Malaysia durian in Hong Kong, from wholesale market, durian shop, large supermarket or even durian buffet, although it’s many ways to get it, but the price is around 7-10 times of Malaysia. Therefore, I would like to suggest you to find some staying package within the garden that provided by farmers, this kind of packages not only provide durian buffet, but other fruits as well and the price are reasonable.
When the right season, you can find all types of durian selling on the street. This year, just starting durian season this month, and the price is around RM6x/kg, and it’s sweetie and fragrance.
To recognize the real Mushang King durian, you can see the big star sign at the bottom, it’s round shape and around 1-2kg each, and the fruits are brown gold colour.
After tasted durian, it will be so smelly on the hand, you can use the fruit shell, run under the tape water and wash your hand underneath the shell, the smell will gone. On the other hand, after tasted durian, it may be too hot on our body, so you can either drink so salted water or drink some water which boiled using its shells, also can get rid of hot.
